Mokulē’ia Views

#1

Rainbow over Mokulē’ia.

When you go rock climbing up at Mokulē’ia, remember to turn around and soak in the view. Especially when the sun starts to go down. To be able to climb a 90 foot rock face in front of this stunning scenery is truly a blessing.

Dan, Kim, Jack and I climbed the Moke (the name of the rock wall) over the weekend. Here are some views of this amazing place.

We parked next to a group of fishermen who’s rides are way cooler than mine.

From the car it’s a 30 minute hike up a trail that takes you up to the crag. You gain a good deal of elevation and much of the trail is made up of these rocks so resting is good.

But when you get to the top, this birds eye view of Mokulē’ia brings back your energy. Camp Erdman is in the center of the photo. You might know it as the set of the “Others” camp in the TV show Lost.

And now it’s time to climb. This is a 5.10c. I wasn’t able to finish this one. Maybe next time.

Here’s Jack on a 5.9.

Jack and Dan carry the gear to the next route. There’s a supply box at the Moke with a bunch of rugs you can use to lay your rope on.

#8

Your neck gets tired from doing this.

The Evolves.

As the sun lowers the colors come to life.

And a rainbow or two might come out.

A bit of rain sprinkled on us but quickly made it’s way out to sea. We figured it was telling us to go home.
